I'm leaving Sunday for a year.
Imagine what you need for a whole entire year in a country with 4 distinct seasons, many different activities, not all the toiletries we use, and does not sell clothes for persons of your stature. Now, try to fit that into two suitcases. This is what I am allowed to take. Not such a big deal. But, things are getting complicated.
Problem: During the summer, the airlines chop off 20 pounds allowed in each suitcase. Okay. Problem solved by putting all toiletries in the carry-on. It's the heavy stuff.
New problem: No toiletries are allowed in carry-on. Time to repack. What do I throw out of my suitcase in hopes that it will be available for purchase in my new destination?
All I have to say is that my suitcases had better not be searched, because there is no way in the world all of that stuff is going to fit back in. Aren't there already enough regulations in place?
I'd rather blow up.
Hey Rachel! I'm so excited for you!!!! Good luck! I know you'll have a great year. I feel your toiletry pain! It totally messed up my carry on plans for South Africa, although I must say your dilema is a little more serious. I was just mad, b/c after two overnight plane rides (one to europe and one to South africa) I will be a very zit-faced girl if I am not allowed to carry face wash with me! I wish you the very best! Keep blogging, you're so funny!
