The trip was fairly uneventful, though it lasted almost 30 hours and I skipped an entire day!
It wasn’t totally boring, though. There was a very loud, very offensive man on the flight to San Francisco. He repeatedly told crude jokes to everyone around him. He then proceeded to loudly mimic the voices of our flight attendants, one of which was foreign, and the other who had a high lispy voice. I wanted to punch him in the face. When he stood up, I noticed he had a nudey lady on the back of his shirt. It was the perfect packaging.
The flight from San Francisco to Incheon lasted 12 long hours, though I did get to watch She’s the Man as many times as my heart desired. I was in the middle of the middle row with 2 people on either side of me, so I only got up once. By the time we landed, my ankles and feet were so swollen I almost had rolls. Sick. I was met by two men who spoke no English. They kind of fulfilled my dream of having someone meet me at the airport waving a sign with my name on it - it’s just too bad it wasn’t someone I was anxious to see.
I hopped on a bus for Daegu, and 5 hours later I reached my final destination. I was met by John, one of the school directors. He took me to my bleak apartment, showed me how a few things worked, and locked me in for the night.
And thus begins my temporary life here.

Rachel, you are so brave to go over there! I would be so scared to go to any foreign country by myself. At least you have Heather and Jess there now with you. Good luck to all of you!
