Seriously?

I was very annoyed to hear that congress recently approved building a $2 BILLION fence along the U.S. Mexico border. Read about it here. (Note: I realize that this is a horribly biased article.) Not only does it cost a shameful amount of money, but there are outrageous expectations about the completion date, little attention paid to the amount of upkeep that will be required, and virtually no thought given to the environmental effects of this fence. Who is in charge here? What kind of a world do we live in when we build gigantic fences between countries? We are like feuding sisters who put a tape stripe down the middle of the room because they can’t trust each other and don’t want the other on their side...as though a piece of tape or a fence is going to stop people from coming in.

I shouldn’t worry too much though, because China will probably be the world’s superpower before the fence is finished, sending the U.S. into a perilous downward economic spiral, halting construction of the fence...that is unless North Korea nukes us first, and the fallout of all their testing renders the majority of China’s population useless. It’s pretty much a toss-up....unless, of course, the Middle East blows the whole world up...but that’s only if AIDS and civil war hasn’t taken out the entirety of Africa, making room for a new Jewish nation...but that’s only if we aren’t already underwater because of global warming.

  2. This is the most depressing thing I have ever read. I'm staying in poor, overlooked South America forever.
