Wag the Dog

Fact: Pets are not very common in Korea.
Fact: Old Koreans sometimes eat dog meat.
Fact: Many grandmothers have tricked their grandchildren into eating dog meat.
Fact: There is a dog in the Daegu Zoo.
Fact: Tonight I stepped in dog poo INSIDE our little neighborhood store.

In class, we were talking about pets. As we went around the room, the most a child could claim was a fish or two. Then, one little boy tells me he has had 9 dogs. Nine different dogs. For a child of only 7 years, that is a lot of dogs.

I asked him why he has had so many dogs.
He said his grandmother kept taking them, so he kept getting new puppies.
I asked why she kept taking his dogs.
He said when his dogs get big, his grandmother comes and takes them and eats them.
He thinks it's hilarious that his grandmother keeps eating his pets.
So do I!

  1. aaahhhhh! poor puppies! i ate guinea pigg about a month ago. i held it's little paw like a chicken wing and ate. guinea pigg skin is really tough to bite through and there really isnt much meat. luckily my cook did not serve the whole thing whole with the head and everything like they do in peru. by the way i was eating at a peruvian's house.
