The Social Network

The movie The Social Network about the guy who started facebook is good. So good.

Not only does the film deal with subjects singularly so mind-numbing that I would rather eat moldy cheese than watch a movie about them - computer programming, corporate law, and 22-year old millionaires, but it combines them and turns them into a completely engrossing story.

My favorite part of the movie were the Winklevoss twins (or the Winklevi to which they're referred). Throughout the movie, I marvelled at how they were able to find a set of twins who were both such good actors - they were real scene-stealers. It turns out, they used the same guy, Armie Hammer (real name), for both twins, digitally imposing his head on a body double. It must be noted that on top of portraying the Winklevoss characters with great aplomb, he's a total babe.

Two complaints about the movie:
1) The digital effects making steam come out of the actors' mouths to make it look cold was so fake. More than appearing cold, it looked like they had miniature steam engines venting through their lips. Their mouth-air completely upstaged what they were saying.

2) The way they portrayed Mark Zuckerberg creating facebook to get a girl was WEAK. As this was also Zuckerberg's main point of contention with the movie, I felt they should have dropped this storyline altogether.

All-in-all a great, well-written movie about some seriously smart, ambitious, and sympathetic jerks who all become millionaires/billionaires before the age of 22.
