"...I made quite an amazing-isn't-it-a-small-world-type-discovery while looking at your blog. I was looking at your pictures when I did a double take...one of the girls in your pictures was a dead ringer for a lady we knew years ago in Cincinnati....it was like a clone of her....but then I realized it was 20 years ago when we knew her, so chances were she could no longer pass herself off as a 20 something person in Korea....
Jan and Kevin Skidmore were in Cincinnati when we lived there many moons ago... Kevin was the campus minister and performed our wedding ceremony. At the time they had 3 tiny tots, Jessica, Tricia and David. They moved away shortly after we got married and I had not heard from them in years, but lo and behold...Jan Skidmore's clone is in your Korea pictures!!
I am now strongly suspecting that tiny tot Jessica of the Skidmore crew grew up to be your travel companion!! See... I told you it was a freaky small world type discovery!! I actually have a rather cute picture from our wedding reception where your mom is sitting in a chair holding Andy, you are standing beside her and Jan is sitting next to her holding Jessica and Tricia and the moms both look like they need a nap!! (all 4 children however look like they want to be turned loose!) "As it turns out, she couldn't find the picture she wrote about, but today, she sent me these instead!
She's a little hard to see, but little Jessica is tucked between our two mothers and is staring at me. She has always been strangely familiar.
Then, I stumbled across this little gem:
But where is Jessica?
And then I spotted her. True to form, even at a young age, Jessica was staring longingly at the chocolate.

Skidmores of the Past
Last year while in Korea, I received an email from my Aunt Sara:

We've been friends for 24 years. I can't say that about most friends. A wedding in OH, mutual friends of Ashley, walking across campus together with her, but not really talking with each other, working at HOT, then travelling to hanguk. I'm in amazement right now. So weird.
ReplyDeleteI've always thought you've had a cool style. The look on my face in that first picture: "That is a sweet dress. I wonder where she got it."
