A Billion is a Big Number

700,000,000,000

700 BILLION dollars.

A BILLION. That doesn't even sound like a real word, let alone can I even comprehend what that means. Further, how is it possbile to have 700 of that incomprehensible billion?

That is enough money to give every single person on earth more than $100. All to try and fix the terrible decisions made by a handful of people.

Here are the questions I would like to ask:

1. Where is all that money going to come from?

2. Really. Is this actually going to help anything?

3. We are a capitalist country. If we live and thrive off of the capitalist system, shouldn't we also have to take it on the chin when things decline?

4. How do we have money for this but not to fix healthcare or education?

5. Why haven't I received my economic stimulus check? (p.s. that was a bad idea, too)

I kind of feel like this whole deal is a depiction of our society; not only was it brought on by consumptive greed, but we are now trying to avoid the negative consequences.

I was always taught that we have a self-correcting system. It may take a long time, but it will eventually fix itself. It's like Jerry once told Elaine, "Don't get too down. Everything will even out. See, I have two friends. You were up, he was down. Now he's up, you're down. You see how it all evens out for me?"
