This and That

Exciting News #1
I am officially done with AmeriCorps! (It was terrible, I don't recommend it to anyone.) Habitat offered me a job, so....

Exciting News #2
I'm apartment searching so I can move out of my parents' house! I am prettttty excited.
One problem: I currently own a bed, a juicer, a laptop, and some sticky notes. Now, while I am all for simplicity, I think this is a bit stark even for me. (In Korea I at least had one pot and two spoons.) Maybe I can finagle a trip to Ikea.

Not-So-Exciting News #3
There is a terrible, terrible woman running Habitat. Her behavior has been bad enough that the staff filed a letter of no confidence, and people who have delt with her in public have sent complaints to Habitat International. She had a meeting with a few board members yesterday to address some of the issues. Tomorrow is going to be tense.

Because of her, I'm half-heartedly looking for a new job. I'm trying to wait it out and see if she quits. I don't want to start a new job, but I don't want to suffer through another year with her.

Anyway. all this drama and the blah-ness of staying in Abilene another year are only motivating me more to get serious about grad school. I can't wait!

  1. wooohoooo!! Way to make it the whole year! I understand not having anything. In fact tonight I was thinking that my apt. may be more sparsely furnished that Korea. It looks like it for sure, and it may actually be. Pitiful. Living the simple life, though, right? ha
