Day 4: Aruba

Aruba is all of 38 square miles, seedy and dark, almost all of it chintzy tourist souvenir stores, slightly dumpy hotels, and coastal chain restaurants aimed at getting scantily clothed sorority girls drunk, like Señor Frogs.

We rode the public bus around the island, which was pleasant and of minimal interest. The beaches weren’t even that great.

Today I learned not to waste your time in Aruba. Also, if you do find yourself there, you probably don’t want to be out after dark.
